  • Hair Loss on Temples: Causes Treatments

Loss of hair, thinning hair, bald patches are nightmares that none of us want to encounter…ever. Whether a temporary condition or hereditary, losing more than 100 strands a day rings the unpleasant panic button which needs to be addressed immediately. If that wasn’t enough, what’s more commonly observed these days is hair loss on temples. Although this condition generally affects men, females too have been known to be impacted with hair thinning at the temple area. It mostly happens due to tight high ponytails and buns for long hours. And ofcourse, during the initial days it can get a bit difficult to deal with as that nasty receding hairline can deeply affect our mental sanity! But you need not worry, we at Kosmoderma are here to resolve all your queries by deep diving into the nitty-gritty of this condition that will help you take the necessary precautions.

Let’s begin with understanding hair loss on temples

Hair loss occurs in many different ways. When you start noticing a receding hairline near your eyes, ears and forehead it is termed as hair loss on temples. Generally this condition is characteristic of hair fall from the area near the eyes, ears and forehead.

At times, one may notice an overall change in the hair line but it can also happen on just one side of the forehead. Temple hair loss can be prevented if caught on at an early stage. For that, it is imperative to understand the early signs and causes of this condition.

How to identify if you are suffering from temple hair loss –

Losing some amount of hair is natural, however if you start noticing large clumps of hair while brushing or showering you need to take charge immediately. In women, reduced hair density and a receding hairline with visible forehead are also indicative of thinning hair near the temples.

Now, let’s look at the major causes –

In general, thinning hair can be attributed as a genetic or hereditary issue among men and women both. However, sometimes there are some additional factors mentioned below that cause hair thinning at the temples:

    1. Smoking: There have been several studies that suggest nicotine reduces the blood flow throughout the body and restricts blood vessels. If genetics are not the concern for you, but you’re a heavy smoker losing hair then it is crucial to cut down on this habit immediately.
    2. Environmental factors: In both men and women pollution, weather changes all take a toll on overall health and do not spare our hair. The harsh pollutants disturb the scalp and unfortunately cause hair fall. So it is wise to keep your mane clean by using a mild shampoo and conditioner regularly.
    3. Tight hairstyles: High buns, ponytails are comfortable ways of managing your mane at home. While sometimes we may also indulge in stylised pulled back hairstyles, what most of us don’t realise is that with time, excessive pulling weakens the hair follicle leading to thinning of hair near temples. Hence the best way to manage your hair at home is to simply tie it in a loose braid or loose ponytail!
    4. Hair extensions: While extensions add volume and length. In the long term, it has an adverse effect on your original hair leaving you with finer brittle hair. So be wise and talk to your stylist about the pros and cons before you take the big leap of getting extensions.
    5. Menopause: Menopause is a biological change that every woman goes through between the ages of 50-60 years and it severely causes hormonal imbalance. Hair loss on the scalp and temples is a common occurrence during menopause. While there is no medication that can help with this, the best way to promote scalp and temple hair growth is to eat healthy, stay hydrated and avoid stressful situations.
    6. Vitamin D deficiency: Vitamin D is a key nutrient that plays a fundamental role in our body’s overall function. It stimulates hair growth and creates new hair follicles. However a deficiency in vitamin D leads to excessive hair thinning and bald patches. We all know that sunlight is the main source of this vitamin, so ensure you get plenty to keep your mane healthy.

How to treat temple hair loss –

    1. Onion juice: While it seems extreme but onion juice has been used historically to promote hair growth. Sulfur is the main dietary nutrient that is known to boost production of enzymes and is found in hair protein called keratin. It also has anti-microbial properties that protect the scalp from infections and boosts blood circulation. So next time you notice thinning hair around temples and scalp; pick up that onion from your kitchen – grind up the pulp and apply the squeezed liquid to see good results.
    2. Aloe vera: Aloe vera is nature’s gift to mankind. With abundance of nutrients, amino acids and minerals it acts as a soothing and moisturising agent that boosts hair growth. It is found in several cosmetic as well as medical products but the finest way to use it is in its natural form. You can simply scrape the aloe vera gel from the plant and blend it with coconut oil to get a thick creamy consistency solution. Apply this concoction for 30 minutes and then wash off with a mild shampoo. Incorporate this mask in your weekly hair care routine and see the results in just a few months.
    3. Minoxidil: This FDA approved over the counter drug is by far one of the widely used medications for any type of hair loss. However, If you’re using minoxidil then patience is the key as it effects take almost 2-4 months. This is not for those who are looking for a quick fix. So be sure to invest upto a year to get the desired hair growth near temples. To know more about minoxidil click here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoxidil
    4. Hair oils: Along with home remedies and treatments it is vital to include head massage with good hair oils. Be sure to choose a hair oil based on your scalp condition. For example – coconut oil is best for dry hair and scalp, while jojoba and almond oil are perfect for oily to normal hair. A weekly massage helps in blood circulation and stimulates hair growth.
    5. Diet & exercise: None of the home remedies or medical treatments will work if not supported with a good diet and regular exercise. In today’s fast paced life, stress and sedentary lifestyle go hand-in-hand causing more damage to our health, skin and hair than we realise. Make slow and steady changes to your diet by including more fruits, veggies and legumes coupled with any form of exercise that suits you. Just 20-30 minutes of workout is good enough!
    6. Seek medical help: If you are facing excessive hair fall or alopecia then it is best to consult an expert who can guide you appropriately. Depending on the severity of hairfall, the team of doctors at Kosmoderma will advise certain treatments such as growth factor therapy, PRP or even supplements if needed. • Tips to Increase Hair Density

2020 might be all about living your best life, and achieving that preternatural glow while you’re at it. Certainly, your skincare game should be on point. But, deep down, are you guilty of turning a blind eye towards a physical attribute that can make or break your look-hair?

With the daily bustle comes a volley of beauty woes, and the need for thick, voluminous tresses tops the chart. If you’ve been googling up on how to increase hair density, that’s a sign in itself. The need to increase hair thickness and improve hair density has touched an all time high, owing to erratic sleep cycles, chronic stress, long hours of commute, and binge-y weekends are some of the reasons leading to the need to increase hair density more than ever before. Lucky for you, you’re on the right page.

Nobody wants to step out with scanty, limp or undernourished hair. The quality of your hair has a vital role to play in your overall appearance. The quality of hair density determines how young you look (irrespective of your biological age). While you may not really know how to increase hair density, it’s always a good idea to switch to a healthier leaf.

Quite like most millennial young adults, if you’ve been guilty of subjecting your hair to intensive chemical treatments, your hair is bound to retaliate and bear a limp appearance in due course of time. But, while you may not really want to check in to a trichologist (an expert who studies hair and scalp) at the first sign of premature greying or thinning, there’s no real reason to put haircare in the back burner-especially if hair density is an area of concern. So, the next time you let out a silent shriek at the pitiable state of affairs of your hair, here’s what you need to do.

While genetics have a role to play in determining the thickness of your hair, the right diet teamed with a few effective DIY packs can do wonders to your tresses.

      1. Watch your diet: A balanced diet has a lot more to do than just helping you shed those extra pounds. Aside from enhancing your mental health, one of the best ways to achieve optimum hair density is by watching what you eat. Swap that mid-morning cuppa to a cup of green tea. Packed in nutrients and anti-oxidants, green tea spells great news to your hair in the long haul. Especially if you’re on the lookout for ways to enhance the volume and thickness of your hair. One cup of green tea a day is known to increase hair thickness to a large extent. Green tea is rich in catechins, a property that helps reduce dihydrotestosterone (DTH)- a feature attributed to hair loss. Green tea also helps in thwarting off dandruff while fighting dryness.
      2. Massage, massage, massage: Grandma was right, after all. Given the screen-lit bustle, it’s common to give a routinely massage a miss. Yet, it’s the same hot oil massage which makes a world of difference to how hair’s health and appearance. A 20-minute massage offers deep nourishment to your scalp. This helps improve hair density as the circulation promotes natural growth while increasing hair thickness. Incorporating some time for a weekly massage in your schedule is strictly recommended.
      3. Hello, aloe: If you’ve been thinking of how to increase hair density, and wondering if there’s a miracle drug out there, the answer is a resounding YES! And well, it’s aloe vera! Crush it, grind it or squeeze out the juice-do what you have to, but slather on a DIY pack if you wish to increase the volume of your hair over a period of time. But, do ensure that you stick to a routine and do this regularly.
      4. Moisturizing is key: Skincare junkies know the importance of moisturizing. But, it doesn’t stop at just adding a potent conditioner to your shopping cart. Rather, real moisturization comes from loading up on the greens, and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day.
      5. Be gentle with your hair: This is probably one of the most overlooked steps when it comes to haircare. But, the manner in which you wash your hair goes a long way in determining the health of it. While it’s awful and certainly a bad idea to have greasy hair, one must remember to not overdo the washing bit either. Women with coarse hair must make it a point to use a conditioner. Always choose sulphate free shampoos, and wash your hair with lukewarm water.
      6. Trim it: For the longest time, women believed that cutting their hair regularly was a dicey move owing to the slow hair growth. Yet, experts have quashed this rumor time and again. If you wish to increase hair density, do get an occasional trim. Ideally once in six weeks is recommended.
      7. An ‘Egg’celent solution: Love eggs? How about adding it to your haircare routine, too? Eggs are rich in protein, a component that constitutes 75% protein. Eggs boost the nutrition in your hair, and also helps increase hair density within a short span of time.

    1. Vitamin C: The benefits of Vitamin C cannot be stressed enough. They’re imperative for your overall health, and more so if you’re searching for ways on how to increase hair density- mango, spinach, berries, tomatoes, oranges, papaya, kiwi, strawberries, and leafy veggies are full of Vitamin C. Avocadoes and gooseberries are great sources of Vitamin C as well. You can consume it or use these to make effective hair packs. Do keep it on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing off.
    2. Homemade juices: Fresh lemon and onion juices are great choices to consider if you’re really keen on increasing hair density without burning a hole in your wallet. Onion juice is a great hair growth enhancer, and is also known to combat hair fall effectively.
    3. Choose your oil: More often than not, we are guilty of using oils that don’t work for us. If you’re searching for ways to increase the thickness of your hair without opting for a hair transplant , it is important to put enough thought into your choice of oil. Castor, pumpkin and mustard oils are known to help lock in moisture for longer, eventually leading to increase hair thickness.

  • Everything You Need to Know Before You Get Electrolysis Hair Removal

We have, in our previous blogs talked a lot about Laser Hair Removal. Electrolysis as a topic however remains largely untouched. This blog piece thus talks about electrolysis for hair removal.

Hope it would help you make an informed choice.

    How does electrolysis work?

The process involves insertion of a metal needle into the hair follicle. An electric current is then passed to destruct the follicle in order to prevent hair regrowth. Post this, each of the hairs is probed individually and removed

How many treatments are usually required?

The number of sessions would usually vary with the individual given their hair density, hair thickness, size of the area to be treated among other factors. A treatment-given the kind of precision that is required lasts between 15-30 minutes at max. In about 8-12 months, one can expect completion of the entire body hair removal.

Do the hair grow back or is it a permanent procedure?

Mostly hair do not regrow, this is because the hair follicle is damaged. However, some of the hair which are in their growth phase will show up but will then be removed later. That is why we said that within a period of 8-12 months, one will be completely hair free.

Can Electrolysis be used on all body parts?

The areas that are treated most commonly by electrolysis include the hairline, eyebrows, cheeks, sideburn area, upper and lower lip, chin, throat, neck, breasts, underarms, stomach, bikini line, feet and toes.

Any precautions to be taken before undertaking the procedure?

The precautions are more or less the same as those for laser hair removal.

Put a pause to your waxing schedule.
Do not start with any new skin treatment regimen for the areas to be treated .
Make sure that you have yourself tested for metal allergies.
    Is the treatment painful?

Most patients who undertake hair removal by electrolysis experience a mild tingling sensation. This is uncomfortable but most do not consider it to be unbearable. However, in case one does find the pain unbearable (which is not the case mostly), anesthesia can be
    given.

    Are there any side effects?

No side effects have been reported till date and this procedure is completely safe. One needs to make sure you get it done by a certified practitioner only.

  • 10 misconceptions about hair transplant treatment

But, with every growing awareness, thanks to the information deluge on the internet, a lot of myths come into picture too. A lot of such myths then get spread by either word of mouth of especially influencers or even acquaintances and end up perpetuating false fears in the minds of people. It is thus advisable that one should talk to their doctor first before taking any decision on their own.

However, to help you with an expert opinion, we will talk about 10 such misconceptions about Hair Transplantation in this blog.

    Hair Transplants is not effective

One of the most common myths about any technology or treatment is that it might not be as effective as it is touted to be. Hair Transplant is no exception either. One reason why this myth does rounds is that the effects of hair transplant show gradually and not at once. There is a definitive cycle that gets followed up before normal hair growth is seen and this might take 2-6 months. However, once it is done, the hair grow as naturally as they could.

The Hair Growth after a transplant looks Artificial

This is another major concern which prevents a lot of people from taking up the procedure. However this is completely untrue. This is because the procedure involves transplantation of natural hair follicles from the donor site of the body to the receptor site and the same
follicles which were growing hair elsewhere would not produce hair at the new site. Hence, the resultant hair growth is going to be natural

Hair Transplant is only for Males

Not at all! Just like hair fall is common to both genders, so is hair transplant. Nothing in the procedure is such that it makes it specific to one gender.

The Transplanted Hair does not Grow

Once the hair transplant is done, the hair follow the usual growth cycle i.e. they get produced from the follicles, grow, mature and then die followed by growth of a new hair from the same follicle. Just like the hair from the other part of the body or the scalp in specific will grow, a transplanted hair will also follow the exactly same cycle.

Hair Transplant has a lot of side effects and isn’t safe

Not true. It is a common myth that hair transplant causes migraines, which scientifically speaking is not possible at all because Hair transplant is a procedure that is performed primarily on the surface of the scalp while migraines are more about nerves, none of which
are touched during the transplant procedure. All in all, the procedure is completely safe, and while hair transplant side effects are generally minimal and rare, no serious side effects have been reported to date.

One needs medication to make sure Hair Transplant shows good results

Not necessarily, it is not a standard thing to go by. Some people might need some but then it is very case specific and not related to the procedure. Once done, the procedure is as effective as it gets and needs no medicational support.

The transplanted hair fall off after a while

Yes, but that is because this is a part of the usual hair transplant performance cycle. This isn’t a permanent effect of the procedure. Once the follicles get transplanted to a different site, the hair in these follicles receive a shock which results in them falling off. However,
post this, new growth takes place in the same follicles and the growth cycle

The transplanted hair cannot be washed

Once the transplant is done, the hair that grow are natural and hence whatever one does with the rest of the hair on their body, the same can be done with the post transplant hair as well.

The Hair Transplant procedure is very painful

No, because usually anaesthesia is given to the person before the procedure as a preventive measure. Hence, almost no discomfort or pain is felt throughout the procedure.

The procedure can not be done on people who have been bald for long

Another major myth, hair transplant can be done on anyone who has active hair follicles and a receptor site. We hope this will help you. However, if you have any other query, please feel free to call us.

  • HAIR CARE MYTHS BUSTED!!

In this phase of the ever-swarming beauty industry, there are times when we are fed with the wrong information. Nevertheless, dichotomizing from hair fallacies from its facts will only benefit you to focus on information that will actually help your hair grow healthier and finer. Here are a few myths about your hair, and how you can utilize its truth for your gorgeous hair care.

Chopping your hair frequently makes it grow faster.

Busted: Your hair growth is determined by the follicles in your scalp. Trimming your hair doesn’t affect hair growth in any way. However, frayed ends make your hair look thinner at the ends and short. When you cut them off, your hair looks fuller and adequate. Regular trims help to keep the ends of your hair healthy and if you are planning on growing your hair longer, it is suggested to trim your hair every three months at a minimum.

Brushing your hair often makes it healthy.

Busted: It is said that the more you brush your hair, the healthier it gets. There is definitely no value in brushing your hair more than you already do because brushing your hair inordinate number of times can do more harm than good. Over-brushing can ruin your hair’s cuticles and it also damages your hair’s outer protective layer by creating friction and breakage over time.

Air drying is healthier than blow drying.

Busted: Undoubtedly excessive heat can damage your hair, but using a dryer on its lowest heat setting isn’t that bad. However, research has found out that exposing your hair to water for a long period of time can swell up the interiors and cause deeper damage within the strands. Hence, air drying can cause more damage than blow drying your hair.

Plucking your grey hair will increase its growth.

Busted: Don’t pluck your grey hair! Two will grow in the place of one. How many times haven’t we heard this phrase? Actually, there is no harm in plucking your grey hair. Grey hair growth is induced by the follicle beneath the skin. Pulling out one grey hair will not generate more grey hair growth as one follicle will not affect the others around it. However, pulling out too much makes your hair weaker over time and it is advised to not pluck your hair. Time to celebrate your silvers or book an appointment with a hair colorist.

Cold water hair wash makes it shinier.

Busted: Dousing cold water on your hair will have no effect on the texture of your tresses. To boost the shine and health of your hair, you can use conditioners and hair spa treatments to smoothen the cuticle. Using a moisturizing mask or any other hair treatment every fortnight maintains your hair strong and smooth.

These were a few popular hair myths debunked. We hope this helps and you can keep your tresses healthy and dazzling.

  • 4 Reasons why you get Split Ends

which give the hair its volume and shine. However as the hair grows, the layers get worn down little by little. So if you have long hair the cuticle isalmost worn out at the tips. As the cuticle gets thinner, so the hair becomes weaker eventually splitting at the tip. This is what gives your hair a dry, damaged look, and your hair gets the split ends – not a very healthy sign for the hair.

For most the remedy is to quickly snip it off at the tip, but they seem to reappear within a week. The reason is that random snipping off the split ends leave the hair strands vulnerable to further splitting. So before you start ‘losing your hair’ over your split ends this is what you need to know.

    Structure of the strand

The hair structure has three layers – the cuticle, cortex, and medulla.

Medulla is the inner core which contains loosely packed keratin, pigment and fatty acid. Over this is the cortex which is the middle layer and the most important part of hair shaft when it comes to giving hair its texture, colour and strength. It again contains keratin and fatty acids which give the hair shaft elasticity, and tensile strength. Cortex also has the main pigment component that gives colour to your hair. Over the cortex is the cuticle which is the outermost layer that is composed of layers and layers of small dead keratin cells lying overlapped on each other like fish scales. The smoothness and shine of your hair depends on how flat these scales are lying on top of each other.

    How split appears

Split ends occur when the hair shaft splits into two or more mostly at the tip. For long hair the strand might even split at the middle length and even at the tip. This makes the hair appear dry, discoloured and definitely damaged. Here are the key reasons why this happens to your hair.

#1:Chemical treatments done to the hair. When you get any kind of chemical-based hair treatment done, your cuticles get lifted and the cortex gets exposed to the chemicals.

The treatments could be your permanent colour, straightening or perming solutions and such. Chemical dyes, bleaching agents, hair relaxants and perming solutions all progressively hurt the natural structure of the strands weakening them.

Repeated exposure starts to weather the strands making the cuticles weak – they become prone to damage and breakage. Split ends are a result if the weakness in the strands. It also signals that hair has lost its tensile strength and become brittle.

#2: Physical damage done through heat and combing.Mosttend to comb their wet hair which should be a strict no-no. When your hair is wet, it naturally stretches up to 30% without damage. But when you comb your wet hair it gets stretched beyond that which weakens the cuticles and the middle cortex. Over combing causes breakage. The repeated friction lifts away the cuticles making them weak. Excessive brushing of dry hair harms the already weak hair tips, fraying them at the end – result split ends.

The other big cause of split ends is heat. Blow dryers, straighteners, curling irons use to manipulate hair ad also speed up hair drying again harm the top layer. These cause excessive dryness to the strands and weaken the cuticles. The thermal styling devices dehydrate the strands and make the cuticles brittle which in turn splits the hair. Continuous exposure can also lead to breakage.

#3: Environmental causes. Just like how UV rays harm our skin, similarly they impact the hair structure. UV rays can reach the cortex and hurt the pigment production capabilities of the shaft, thus lightening your hair. The UTV rays also damages the protein and keratin bonds of your hair impacting the strength, elasticity and shine. The rays weaken the bond which gives your strands a brittle and rough texture prone to breakage and as you guessed it, split ends.

#4: Underlying health problem. Your hair is the first part of your body to show if you are suffering from any kind of internal imbalance, whether it is vitamin deficiency, hormones or any other ailment. Lack of vitamins and essential minerals also lead to brittle hair. Split ends are also a sign that your body might be lacking something.

    How to prevent split ends

First of all stop abusing your weak, damaged hair. Stop harsh chemical treatments for a while and do not randomly cut your split ends. You will only aggravate the situation.

Improve your vitamin and essential mineral intake through food and some health supplements. Give your hair extra support through diet consisting of tofu, vegetables, fruits, walnuts, flaxseed and milk.

Next strengthen your roots and moisturise your strands with regular oil massage. Use nourishing oils like almond or sesame to moisturise the scalp and form a protective barrier over the hair shaft.

Use a gentle, creamy shampoo to wash your scalp and hair and then condition the strands with a hair mask rather than a conditioner. It helps seal in the cuticles and reduces the appearance of split ends. Post wash treat your split ends with a hair repairing serum thathave ceramides and keratin to fill the gaps in your hair fiber and seal the cuticles.

  • Pros and Cons of Hair Transplant

Now it is natural to lose up to 100 strands on a daily basis. It is part of the natural hair growth and fall cycle. However, if you are losing more than that or hair comes out in clumps, and you see thinning of the hair volume, then you are experiencing hair loss.

6 things to know about hair growth and fall

Your hair shaft grows from the follicle on the scalp. The root or the follicle is located beneath the skin. There are over 100,000 follicles on your scalp.
The hair growth cycle has four phases – Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen.
Anagen is the growing phase, and is the first phase of hair. At any given time around 90 percent of the follicles are in anagen phase. The anagen phase lasts between 2 to 7 years – this determines the length of your hair.
Catagen is the transition phase. This is when the hair is getting ready to fall. This phase lasts 2 to 3 weeks. This is when blood supply is cut off from the roots. This hair is known as club hair.
Telogen phase is the resting phase, when new hair growth takes place below the club hair. This lasts for about 3 months. At any given time 10 to 15 percent if your hair is in telogen phase.
Exogen is the shedding phase when your old hair (resting club hair) falls making way for the new strands to push through. It’s ok to lose up to 100 strands a day.
Hair thinning in men and women

The hormone called DHT in men and women can have an impact on the quality of the hair growth. It can lead to hair thinning. DHT leads to follicle constriction, which slows down the hair growth.

In men hair loss is often called male pattern balding – receding hair line and complete baldness on crown and a horse patch of hair from ear to the nape. In women, it is more about thinning in certain patches rather than complete balding. Hair starts to thin around the hair part. Baldness can occur in patches due to alopecia or due to malfunction in the endocrine glands.

    Hair transplant as a solution

Hair transplantation is a type of surgery where your own hair follicles are taken from one site and transplanted into the bald area.

The most common techniques for Hair transplant include Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

In FUT the surgeon removes a 6 to 10 inch skin strip from the back of the head. This is called harvesting hair follicles from the donor area. It is then divided it into grafts of either individual hair or a group of hair. The number of grafts usually depends on the nature of the bald patch.

In FUE however, the surgeon shaves the back of the head and removes (harvests) the follicles one by one. The procedure of planting the graft is same after this for both the techniques.

The duration or the sittings of your procedure depends on the area and severity of baldness.

There is a recovery phase for this surgery is 2 to 5 days. It can be mildly painful, which is expected of any surgery. The transplanted hair falls down in 2 to 3 weeks post-surgery. It takes a few months for the new growth to come – 60 percent of the hair cpmes out in 6 to 9 months.

Who can opt for hair transplant?

Hair experts say that men with more defined balding pattern are better candidates for hair transplant procedure. They have defined receding hairline, and complete loss. Also they are not as impacted by follicle killing DHT as women. Harvesting grafts from donor areas becomes easy and transplants are more stable.

Women,on the other hand, have diffused hair loss and thinning, which means they do not have stable donor areas from where grafts can be harvested. Also the hormone DHT a stronger impact on women’s follicles. So when grafts are harvested from DHT affected areas, the transplanted strands remain unstable. The procedure often fails for women with thinning hair.

There are certain cases where women can opt for hair transplant procedure. Those who have distinct pattern baldness can opt for this procedure. Also women who have lost hair due to trauma like burns, accidents or scarring can go for hair transplantation. Women who have suffered hair loss due to non-hormonal causes can also try hair transplant procedures.

  • Getting Healthy Hair @Home

Now, when we say daily care, we definitely do not expect you to apply some form of paste or ointment daily. What we mean by daily care is a few precautions here and there which can affect your hair health significantly.

Sharing a few such generic precautions followed by a few DIY masks which can help you curb your hair fall and get healthy voluminous hair.

Do Not let the dirt build-up
Our routines are hard and we hardly have any time to relax. In such a situation, our hair care usually takes a back seat because even if the hair get oily, we can always go for a hairstyle to cover that up.
Now, this kind of carelessness results in dirt and dust piling up, even more after the oil starts surfacing. The result- dandruff, itching, hair fall and/or other concerns.

The solution- wash your hair at regular intervals so that they remain clean and an important thing to note- do not go out immediately after washing your hair because a good hair wash opens up your pores making it susceptible to environmental infections. The solution- use a conditioner!

    Oil them well
Shampoos, and no matter how mild they are drain your hair of the moisture. It is thus important that you oil at least once a week so that the oil content of your hair is maintained adequately which is essential for shiny looking hair

Use cold or lukewarm water to wash your hair
Do not use warm or hot water on your hair ever because it drains away the moisture content. Cold water or the one at normal room temperature works the best. In case, you prefer slightly warm water then go for lukewarm but never hot.

    Do not comb wet hair
Because, right after a hair wash, your hair retain water droplets and due to that momentary change in their keratin structure, they are usually week and can break off easily from their roots.
Instead, let them dry up a bit and then gently run your comb/brush through them.

    Brush Responsibly
Do not go harsh on those hair knots. It would simply break your hair and give them a dull unkempt look. Instead, go for a smoothener which will oil up the hair knots and open them up with a gentle brush stroke.

Also, make sure your hair touches your scalp and goes down till the very end. This is because this helps in blood circulation and hence improving your hair density and growth. Every once in a while, let your hair down and then comb- this gives your hair a bouncy look and results in a more even distribution of the oil on your scalp thus significantly reducing the oily look.

And now 2 DIYs to help your hair:
    Amla Powder Paste
Mix 2 tbsp of amla powder with 2tbsp of lime juice and mix well. Apply this mix to your scalp and let it dry.
Once dried, wash it off with lukewarm/cold water.

Why this- A natural source of antioxidants and Vitamin C, Amla not just strengthens your hair but also improves its pigmentation i.e. makes your hair colour darker and reduces the chances of graying.

    Coffee Powder Paste
Brew 3-4 tbsp of coffee in one cup of water. Once the solution is ready, let is cool.
Pour it on your scalp and gently massage it.
Once done, wash it off with cold water.

Why this- Coffee is highly potent and hence helps with hair growth as well as regrowth. The mixture stains hair as well and hence, instantly colours the gray hair naturally.

  • The Daily Hair Care Routine for Men

With the tiring and rough routine males generally face, grooming the hair becomes a task. Beard grooming, well the laser shaping can take care of that but hair care always tends to take a back seat.
Another major concern becomes the distorted idea of hair care most males carry- shampoo regularly to keep your hair clean.

So, let us burst a few myths and understand the right way to take care of the manly hair!

    Do Not Shampoo Everyday
Constant shampooing dries up the hair by draining the natural moisture. If at all, the case is that the person sweats a lot, in that case use a mild shampoo- a baby shampoo on most days with the regular shampoo being used not more than twice a week.
Also, shampoos come with instructions for the type of hair they should be used on. Hence, do not pick your shampoo randomly. Choose the one which is made for your hair type.

    Use a Conditioner
Yes! There is nothing feminine about using a conditioner. A conditioner shuts down the pores which are left open after shampooing. This prevents environmental dust and infections from causing scalp troubles thus keeping your scalp and hence hair healthy.

    Get a Haircut Regularly
Well, yes you are lucky because you can keep cutting your hair every now and then unlike most females. Cutting your hair short and regularly helps to keep them in good health.

    Select Your Hairstyle
Haircut is not just about going and getting any random haircut which basically involves cutting the hair short. A hairstyle can change your looks considerably so spend some time on it and then go for the one which goes best with your personality.

    Carefully choose your styling products
Do not choose your styling wax or gel randomly. Go for products which are specifically curated for your particular hair type. Since animal testing is cruel and has been stopped, hence test your products on a small hair patch before applying it generously over the entirety. Also, refrain from using them regularly because at the end of the day, they are chemicals which can damage your hair and in some cases cause premature hair ageing.

These are a few basics, you should consider while taking care of your hair.
However, hair fall, hair loss, dandruff etc are the concerns which can plague anyone irrespective of how much care they take. The maximum help a good hair care regime will provide will be to delay the damage.
So, what when the damage finally happens?
Well, you do not have to worry because we are just a call away.
